As a Pom who went out for only the first test, I want to very sincerely thank you for all of your excellent coverage throughout the entire series, Paul. The statistics work was particularly brilliant, and I've enjoyed reading it all.
It's always good to have some objective analysis, combatting what we think we've seen with our eyes!
Curious to hear your opinion on the omission of Todd Murphy for the Sydney Test, I reckon he was snubbed. Likewise, I think Renshaw was a shoo-in for Weatherald for the 5th Test, given his recent form. Loved the article, keep up the good work, mate.
I actually think Webster might be as good a spinner as Murphy. It’s hard to compare their stats (Webster’s aren’t readily broken into spin versus medium pace) but Murphy’s first class average of 34.9 leads me to say I’d reckon Webster’s spin - with his height - must be no worse. And Webster has other strings to his bow too.
I’d prefer Renshaw to Weatherald. I’d have never picked Weatherald in the first place. BUT I’m not convinced about Renshaw either. His stats indicate a solid player to me - borderline Test standard at best.

Thank you Max; that is very nice to read!
Hope you had a great time in Perth, despite the result!
